Print Preparation Guidelines
Good print starts with a confirmed specification and a carefully reviewed file.
Choose the format first
Confirm the finished dimensions, quantity, sides or pages, binding, folding and finishing. Request the printer’s file specification before preparing your final artwork.
Images and colour
Use images with sufficient resolution at the intended print size. The existing preparation guide recommends 300–350 dpi for standard print and CMYK colour. Large-format work needs a resolution appropriate to its final size and viewing distance. Confirm spot colours and overprint settings with the printer.
Fonts, bleed and effects
Supply the required bleed, embed linked images and include the agreed font handling. Keep editable source files separately. Check fine lines, masks, transparency, filters and effects so the output matches your reviewed proof.
Review before release
Check spelling, names, contact details, prices, page order and all images. Screens and office printouts are not colour proofs. Confirm the artwork and production details before the print job is released.
Keep your own backup
Retain a copy of the final artwork and the source files. Ask the team to confirm the current cancellation process, production deadline and file requirements for your order.
